My Life Flight!

I'm back I was life flighted to the hospital in the nearest big city the beds were all full here. I'm newly diagnosed type one diabetes; telling my story to any one who will listen I was in the hospital nearly a week, in recovery mode here. I've been out a week and a half now. I'm glad I lived to tell about it! This is not how I wanted to check "get helicopter ride" off my life goals list. Read on for an update! Update: I've been out of the hospital for two weeks now. Got a good report from the dr. and it was like music to my ears when he said; "You are doing good keep doing what you're doing and come back and see me in two weeks". I'm walking now daily 1.5 mi. in the morning and .5 in the evening. I walked longer tonight another 1.5 mi. for a total of three miles yea! My strength is returning I'm SO glad about that! Hubby got a total gym at a yard sale and has been walking in the mornings and doing a work out in the afternoons or evenings on the machine. Got my results in from my A1-C test; sugars were twice what normal was but we knew that; I'm a bump up on other things cholesterol no more bacon grease on my eggs; and I'm having turkey now instead of pork. Dear daughter is walking and dear son is giving me pep talks. He's type I too. I've been reviving my sugar free recipes and created a high energy bar with honey peanut butter and oats it's great to be well enough again to enjoy being creative in the kitchen. Out of the hospital a month and I have a dr. apt. this afternoon. I'll let you know how I am. Got a book called conquering diabetes by a dr. and I'm reading it. I need a root canal and some more dental work but I'm waiting until next mo after my birthday Tues. This week I've been reading some blogs by others with diabetes pretty interesting reading. Was at the dr. and I got a good report today. Wish I could say the same thing about the dentist. H. broke a tooth this week. I need a root canal and three other teeth need worked on oh joy NOT! I'm to the next phase of my diabetes counting carbs and no longer chasing blood sugar numbers this is a more proactive approach instead of reactive. Less finger pokes too I'm really glad about that!

July Check In

Last week we went to church and then mountians to ride our A.T.V. 's on Mon. that was fun. Tues. hubby washed them up and I went to ladies Bible study. The rest of the week I was trying to get a handle on routines around here after two short weeks in a row it was a challenge; and I was doing Christmas in July in the nice cool basement away from the smoke and fires on the hill. I saw we had deer in the yard when I was out doing yard work. This weekend I broke a tooth so I'll be calling the dentist this week. This weekend I broke a tooth so I'll be calling the dentist this week. I'm keeping wax on it so I slept well with out pain. It will be soft foods for me; hubby had a steak and I had a bite or two. Found one in the deep freezer; I had hamburger then he decided he wanted one too. Saw on T.V how they make brickettes in Springfield Ore. that was fascinating. I can't believe that July is half over already.

Wedding

This weekend we found out our dear son has set the date for his wedding in a month so it's going to be a busy time here for us. Rehearsal dinner and other things that go with a small wedding.

Adventure Church

This week at an ATV meeting there was adventure church in the next room at the community center. I need to go and check this out! The praise songs for worship sounded great. The club did not like the loud amped up microphones but that happens there because of the thin walls between the rooms. Stuck in a Snow Drift on ATV & Fishing; Collage Graduation

Talk about a full plate; dear son graduated from collage Fri. evening; and they had a BBQ on Sat. it was 95* Sun. I rested my ankles swelled up like balloons so I had to elevate them. Hubby puttered around on the ATV camp trailer. Mon. I was better and we went on an A.T.V. ride that was fun filled and we had adventures I got stuck in a snow drift. Hubby got to wench me out. The highlight of his day! We found a new road and a different way to get to the camp ground that was snowed in. It had 4' of snow still there are flood warnings here today. I got stung and grabbed a handful of snow and put on it that helped no I'm not allergic to bee stings so that is good. We had a blast! I enjoyed seeing the wild flowers. We did not see much game. I declared that a vacation day and today I'm digging out like after camping! We have rain here today we picked the best day to go weather wise that always helps. I enjoyed the scenery while hubby did a bit of fishing before we headed back home.

Mom's Day

Pardon my while I vent and whine a bit I'm not getting my way neither is hubby who's been pouting because he's not been able to convince me to go fishing with him this week! He thinks he needs me to drive the boat so he can fish away stress; I don't think so not on Mom's day week I pick other fun things to do. Why can't that wait till next week or even next month? Next topic: Mom's day We went to the buffet went last week to avoid crowds; the daughters are planning a picnic on a rainy morning we've been fighting colds so I'm not sure of the wisdom of that. Big sigh. We had been discussing a different buffet in on of those nice posh places but I guess that will have to wait until our 35 wedding anniversary. Today's task make Jell-o salad because I want one and the one I bought over town was not good. I baked a cake too. I've been on a muffin baking kick this week; yummy and portable the ones I make are healthier too. I hemmed a vegetable print table cloth I'll be taking that to the picnic. Now that I'm a granny gone are the days of breakfast in bed with burnt pancakes containing bits of egg shells some of the special memories I have of past mom's days. We had a good mom's day after all a bit windy but there were walls and a cover to protect so it was good we did not even notice the bit of a shower we got. There is a new I-hop in town but we are going to wait a couple of months until the help get broke in, our experience is that if we go to a new place they do not get the food right and mix up the orders and it takes them a couple of months to get past the �I�m new here� phase of it. [Good news my health issues have eased up a bit.] Is is spring yet? I heard on the local news it's supposed to be up to 90* on dear son's graduation day from collage next week I so glad it's not out side like in years past before the new gym was built. His b.b.q. will be outside and should be warmer next weekend. I wanted one of those umbrella chairs for my mom's day gift and we found some they were out of stock so we got a rain check I hope they get in before the sunny B.B.Q. I remembered to put out the canned food stuffs for the post office food drive today. Earlier in the week I got mom's card off in the mail; and I did get a letter written and off to her yesterday. We bought a box of apples so I'll be making an apple crisp or two this week. Last weekend; after the show n shine I got a portable type writer like I had when I was in high school today's mission locate a ribbon for it!

Community Events

This weekend we have the only spring county fair in the state; and the dogwood festival is happening too. We are in an A.T.V. club that as a group enters the parade each year. This year the theme is "blue jeans and country dreams". Hubby's ATV is blue it will fit with the theme if I go I'll just ride behind him. The guys are decorating their A.T.V.'s by putting ribbons on their ATV's, they vetoed the blue roses idea for decorations; we need to get ribbons cut for this. We already have blue jeans and jean coats for our "costumes". Mine is red and does not really go with the them so I'm just thinking about leaving it at home.
